Network Addressing

Network addressing is used on campus to provide access to the UW Stout network for devices on campus. Network addressing encompasses all dynamic and static IPs used on campus along with the virtual LAN (VLAN) and network address translation (NAT) infrastructures.

Benefits and Key Features

  • All wired devices are required to be registered before accessing the network.
  • Static addresses can be utilized for devices needing a permanent address (ex. networked printers).
  • Allows us to segment the network to strengthen UW Stout's security posture.
